CALL TO ACTION! Legislative Alert!! Bill 657 threatens to restrict the availability of land for hunting in Massachusetts!

If passed, House Bill 657, introduced by State Representative Kathi-Anne Reinstein (D – Suffolk),  would expand the current law prohibiting possession of a loaded gun or hunting within 500 feet of a dwelling without the dwelling owner’s permission to prohibiting the same within 1000 feet!   It will effectively shut down significant tracts of property to hunting.  In a state where significant encroachment by development on wildlife habitat has made herd management significantly more challenging, this further handcuffs our state wildlife management agency and cities and towns in controlling burgeoning deer populations.   This is unnecessary legislation that creates an issue where one does not currently exist.    Call your State Representative to make it clear that this is legislation you strongly oppose.

Other organizations are actively addressing this legislation and MassWildlife is opposing it for its impact on their ability to manage wildlife. Call your State Representaive Today!
